Course Locked In
I ended last Sunday’s sermon with these words:
"these times call us to heed the lessons of the cycle of earth’s seasons… each in its time. Let us be eager and unwavering in our pursuit of the remedies nature’s ways might teach us, fearless and joyful in turning our learning into action for the transformation and salvation of the world.”
First Harvest
My maternal grandfather, of whom I have no memory, a hardware store owner, car salesman, and sometime family farmer, notoriously lacked the patience typically required of farmers or backyard gardeners for arrival of harvest time.
In Our Hands
We’ve got the whole world in our hands.
And we’ve had it in our hands, to some extent, all these 300,000 years since our species evolved into existence upon the earth. I don’t know enough biology or natural history to say definitively, but it seems to me we might say that homo sapiens appearance was the beginning of a trophic cascade that continues still today.
Amuck with Delight
You gotta love Huck’s enthusiastic, single-mindedness of purpose, don’t you? His total body engagement in the pursuit of flowers. He’ll eat anything, but flowers are his favorite. And when flowers are involved Huck can’t resist!
Many Paths; One Center
You’ve probably heard someone say, “I feel closest to God or most connected to the Holy or most spiritual or most centered _______________” . Fill in the blank at the beach, in the desert, in the woods, on a mountain, by running water. “ So I don’t need to go to church.” You may have said it yourself, sometime in the past or very recently. Lots of people say this.
